There is a Internet connected AIS receiver at the Darwin Sailing Club, just like your chart plotter it receives AIS data via an antenna and records it.
I know what you are thinking 'Don't websites like Marine Traffic already do this?' this is where Marine Traffic gets their information from for Darwin. Well this one and another station up on the Avenue in Parap. Dunno who runs that one.

Coverage is VHF and therefore line of sight, so it will pick up a yacht out to about Charles Point. it won't go as far towards the Vernons - east point is in the way and reduces the range.
