Static IP with a Mesh AP MeshBox
The Mesh ap is quite automated. As such using Linux commands to configure it after it has booted is not a good idea.
Mesh ap will automatically become WiFi to internet router IF it detects an internet connection. If you are connection it to a network which requires you to manually enter the IP address on each machine then try these instructions:
Once booted, login on the console as root user (or SSH in as root) and create a file called /etc/STATIC
It is recommended to use the vi editor for this
create the file like so:
1.2.3.4 netmask 255.255.255.0
3.4.5.6
Where 1.2.3.4 is the IP address you want for the meshAP device and replace 255.255.255.0 with your local netmask and 3.4.5.6 with your gateway address.
IMPORTANT - make sure you end the gateway address line with a carriage return.
When you've done the above then you need to reboot, meshap should come up set up right.
Stage 2, now it should be able to get on the internet, you can test this by opening a terminal and typing
ping www.yahoo.com, if it says "Reply from ...." then its working.
Stage 2 if the box is registered to wiana you will have to go there and type the settings into the config page as bellow:
Its probably a good idea to force wiana to update the meshbox as a test. use the command remotemanagement
