Does your loved one love their boat more than you?

Win back his/her affections with these handy Xmass gift ideas.

Gloves – I went through three pairs last year. The fingerless ones are best. Ben Doran refuses to wear them, its just a phase he’s going through Nautical Supplies or Yacht Shop will stock them.

Yeti Cooler –Territory’s moto is “custodi frigus cervisia” – Literally Keep the Beer Cold these Stubby coolers are around $40 bucks from Fishing & Outdoor World on Cavanagh St, they are remarkably good.

Custom T-Shirts, the Shaw Thing™ hooning shirts popular with the more bogan members with their uncouth sports boat came in at about $36 each from the Cricket and Football shop. Trish does their embroidery can probably pop your name on them too, or ‘Captain’, ‘Mutineer’ or your blood type. Tom can (maybe) help out with logo conversions, (hint check the spelling – Ed). There’s three ways to go “off the shelf” shirts – cheapest, “custom” and the ‘Infused’ all over print fishing shirts – most expensive. Expected minimum order of 10 – Pretty sure a Churchkey order going in soon.

GPS Watches – I wear the old school ones, black and white no charts or touch screens Garmin 301/401/601 NT General Store $300-400 My crew wears a modern color and touch screen fitness one. He’s like the talking clock for boat speed. Garmin – talk to Navicom?

Gunboat 68, annoy Wally owners by looking cooler than them, annoy Oyster owners by being richer than them, annoy everyone by being faster than them. Nothing rubs it in like a Gunboat. If you haven’t had a big lotto win then you can probably get cheap plastic sunglasses with “gunboat” written on them on Ebay.

Stocking Fillers:

· Spinnaker Repair Tape - Nautical Supplies or Yacht Shop?

· Silicon Spray – Bunnings?

· Whipping Twine - Nautical Supplies or Yacht Shop?

· Soft Shackles - Ebay

· Handy Rolls of 2-3mm Spectra/String/VB Cord - Nautical Supplies or Yacht Shop?

· Sunglasses Straps – Anaconda? BCF? NT General Store?

· Stick on Tell Tales - Nautical Supplies or Yacht Shop?

· Protest Flag – Internet

Boat accessories:

Tiller Yachts and Trailer Sailors – Spinlock EA Tiller Extensions are Excellent
Dinghies – Even one design classes have “accessories” Lasers its Clew Straps and Posh Tiller extensions. Sometimes its foil bags Covers or Padded Tow Straps google “class name accessories” and see what comes up. Or get Garry at nautical Supplies to make something.
Big Boats – Velco Clew straps? (Gary Mapas) Cup Holders? Posh Escky?

Other ideas – Novelty ‘in date’ flares? – Waterproof Bluetooth Speakers – The Art of Corse Sailing – A trip the 2020 America’s Cup?

Which leaves the question what do you buy a Shaw 650 owner? He’s already reached the top and had to stop, and frankly, its bothering him. All I want for Christmas is a new main, a new trailer, new eva non slip decking, a new tiller extension, new gloves, new battle tights™ a new bow sprit cap, new sailing shorts, my boots are through at the soles, my cat’o’nine tails is almost worn out and …. well…. maybe another boat? Possibly a Musto Skiff? Also where do you get a huge stick on spinnaker patch, in dubious taste, of a lass with two pistols round here anyway?

So maybe just buy the Sailor a lottery ticket and let them dream of Gunboats, Musto Skiffs and anything designed by Rob Shaw.
